There are no Starbucks in Italy.
I don't mind it much except for when I'm in the mood for something iced (don't expect to find ice here either) or would like a Passion Iced Tea.
Soda is expensive. You can spend 1 euro on a half-size can of coke, and up to 3 euros on a smaller than the standard 20ish oz bottle of coke here.
Pizza, on the other hand, is very inexpensive, you can get a square (sold usually by the square at pizzerias - made into a round pizza when it's made to order from a restaurant or cafe) of pizza for around 1.40 euros.
Here are some pictures of food from Paris & Italy:

So thought I wanted to go to Italy but think I will pass. No Starbucks is one thing, but no ice!! No way!! I want that red chocolate shoe in real, please. Everything is so pretty, I wouldn't want to eat it. :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes there is ice, but it's not like in the states for sure! Grocery stores/marts - no ice!
DeleteEverything is pretty that's why I take a picture before I eat it lol
Hey missy!!! loved the updates! Whatcha up to today?, which is now yesterday when you read this :-) We included you in our prayer for our family study, seeing how you are a gazillion miles away and can't be here in person!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I missed in Paris was Mickey D's coffee. The one thing I miss in San Diego are the amazing chocolate covered waffles in Paris! What's one to do? Wish we had a private jet (for comfort) and unlimited money, that would solve our dilemma, all right. In the meantime, you'll make due, because after all YOU are in ITALY and NOT punching a time card! :-)
Love you lots, lots, lots and lots!!! mom
awww thank you for including me in the prayer! that makes me feel closer to you guys :)
DeleteTuesday, yesterday, I went out in service in the afternoon and went on a bible study that was conducted mostly in Italian lol but it was still nice. I was trying to go out in the morning with a group but the plans suddenly changed and I couldnt find them at the train station in time so I missed it :/
Today is wednesday and its a holiday so most everything is closed, even the grocery store! I don't have service plans so I'll probably go expore piazza maggiore, the main area of the city center.
love you!!!! :)
Ok..All right...thank you! (It's Tuesday. :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL took me a minute and I finally just got it lol....hahahahahahah wowwwww
DeleteRoxy....I'm working on getting that jet plane you've been wanting.. A few more ep jobs like I did today and we'll be on our way!
ReplyDeletereally enjoying your posts! i love gelato. the best i've had was at the bellagio in las vegas! i wonder how it would compare :)hehehehehe
ReplyDeleteare you reading your regular emails? i've sent you some because i didn't see how to do this. but now i do so... i'll travel this path now.
it sounds like so much fun just strolling around the streets with the friends and hanging out til the wee hours of night / morning! do these people not have to work or ??? it seems the people in general are always just hanging out. and late! you'll have to report back on what their situation is. maybe they don't mind being tired and would rather hang out with friends real late whereas we're in bed by 8 watching big bang re-runs! (well, i am anyway) :)
i'd much rather live like them than us. except for the ice issue. that would be a severe problem! and i'm not eating egg on my pizza! nor black pasta that's actually black. i'm sorry, that plate looked diseased! :)
but i'm glad you liked it and i'm glad to hear you've thus far enjoyed yourself.
service in italy sounds wonderful. i may have to try it sometime. i thought it was cool the one magazine we had recently that showed sisters at a door with the eifel tower in the background. (yes, i'm aware that's in a different country but the rule still applies).
i'll patiently await your next post.
til then... take care!
love ya.

hiya! yes, i got your email and i replied back to you, hopefully you got it :)
Deletesame as here as in paris - i wonder what these people do for a living because you really do see so many people just wandering around! as for the people i have been hanging out with till the wee hours - first, they are young so they have the energy lol. also, they are all "need greaters" and only have part-time work here, mostly doing nanny-type jobs. A couple of the girls have only been here a couple of weeks or just got here, and they are living off their savings right now.
i'm going to try and find some ice cube trays today because its annoying not to have ice. you do kind of get used to it, but its never normal.
you should definitely try this sometime - i don't think one fully appreciates Jehovah's worldwide organization until they get a taste of it in another country or countries, especially the field service. It is really a unique experience that everyone should have.
Hey Girlie, Don't wait for trays. If you have a freezer just put water even in a bowl--the flater the better-- and just break it in pieces when it is frozen :) enjoy
DeleteOh My!! I'll try this again. I can't seem to connect. I love it all. No time to really read and reply. However, the pic of Jez with the pizza is the first one of her I have ever seen that looks just like her Mama :). I want a hard copy of that one, for sure. I remember my experiences of that "holiday". Hope you didn't have any negative events. All is so great==shoes that are edible!! What next--yuk yuk. I hear the gfolks talking :( too late for that..... Love Ya, Gramma
ReplyDeletewell your comment showed up so glad you were able to figure it out :)
